Storage backends
Select exactly one backend in plugins/Hydrogen/config.yml:
storage:
type: file # file, mysql, mongodb
redis:
enabled: false
| Backend | Recommended use | Notes |
|---|---|---|
file |
Single server | Four JSON collections in plugins/Hydrogen/data/; no external service |
mysql |
Shared networks | MySQL/MariaDB; four hydrogen_* InnoDB tables |
mongodb |
Shared networks, old Mongo installs | Existing Mongo document format |
File storage refuses corrupt snapshots and a folder already locked by another instance. For a consistent backup, stop the server before copying the JSON files. Never share file storage across servers.
For MySQL, create a database and grant SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE and INDEX. TLS defaults to mysql.ssl-mode: verify-full; use a trusted certificate matching the hostname.
Storage changes require a full restart. Changing the backend does not migrate data: back up, stop all writers, migrate profiles/grants/ranks/tags/punishments, verify, and then change storage.type. There is no automatic migration command.
